Synergistic combination of triazine and phenanthroline moieties in a covalent triazine framework tailored for heterogeneous photocatalytic metal-free C-Br and C-Cl activation

We present the design and synthesis of a new covalent triazine framework with high content N atoms bearing phenanthroline moieties. This material displays interesting luminescence phenomena enhanced photoredox activity as consequence synergistic combination both N-containing aromatic fragments. As catalytic application, reduction variety brominated challenging chlorinated structures, including persistent organic pollutants such polybrominated diphenyl ethers, has been performed under light irradiation room temperature conditions. These chemical transformations follow mechanism involving formation aryl radicals, that were trapped different radical acceptors in order to afford C-C, C-B C-P bonds.

A new triazine functionalized hexagonally ordered covalent organic polymer (TRITER-1) has been synthesized via the Schiff-base condensation reaction between a tailor made triamine 1,3,5-tris-(4-aminophenyl)triazine (TAPT) and terephthaldehyde. This ordered porous polymer showed a high BET surface area (716 m(2) g(-1)) and an excellent CO2 uptake capacity of 58.9 wt% at 273 K under 5 bar pressure.
